From Mentorship to Market Readiness

What does it take to move a young or women-led business from potential to a market-ready, investable enterprise? The answer goes beyond funding.

The BiasharaPawa Dialogue in Uasin Gishu brought together 117 highly engaged entrepreneurs, with women making up 60% of participants, to explore how mentorship can become a practical business growth strategy.

The dialogue reframed mentorship from informal advice into survival and growth infrastructure - helping entrepreneurs strengthen financial discipline, compliance, investor readiness, market connections and peer learning.

The Insight Paper highlights practical foundations for growth: keeping accurate financial records, validating ideas with paying customers, developing simple financial models and preparing for KRA, KEBS, NEMA, permits and AGPO opportunities. Investor readiness, the findings show, starts long before the investor meeting.

Market readiness also requires understanding customers, building visibility through affordable digital channels, strengthening branding and positioning, retaining customers and using partnerships to access markets and reduce costs.

The way forward is clear: move from one-off support to a coordinated growth system - combining sector-specific mentorship, financial literacy, market links, stronger collaboration, sustainable practices and inclusive infrastructure.

Structured mentorship + finance + markets = stronger, job-creating businesses.
